Wisconsin Badger Camp News

Wisconsin Badger Camp would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association for a two-way VHF Radio upgrade.

“We would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association, Mystique Casino, and their board for their grant,” Bowers said. “The Dubuque Racing Association is an important granting body that has supported nonprofit organizations like Badger Camp in Southwest Wisconsin for many years. We appreciate their confidence in our projects and all of the improvements they have helped make possible at our camp.”

The addition of two-way VHF Radio upgrade means easier communication during camp, camp programs and activities. Utilizing the two-way radio also helps our staff stay connected with a wide range coverage with use of the radios. Another benefit of two way radios is that they are very easy to use. Because of this user-friendly nature, the radios are particularly popular among outdoor settings.

“We appreciate the commitment the Dubuque Racing Association made to support youth and adults with developmental disabilities,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development Director, Kayla Smith said.

Do You Know Wisconsin Badger Camp's History?

In 1966, parents, teachers, and concerned citizens decided it was time to give individuals with developmental disabilities the same summer camp opportunities other children received. That summer, Southwest Badger Camp gave 48 individuals with developmental disabilities an opportunity to camp, fish, and simply enjoy themselves in the outdoors. As more families heard of the quality experience of other individuals with disabilities, Southwest Badger Camp grew. It grew so much, and attracted individuals from other parts of the state so fast, that Southwest Badger Camp quickly became Wisconsin Badger Camp. To date, Wisconsin Badger Camp has provided camp experiences to over 21,000 individuals with developmental disabilities.

WI Badger Camp "How-To"

Ever wanted to know how to volunteer with Wisconsin Badger Camp?

Volunteers are an important program and financial asset to Badger Camp. Individuals and organizations have volunteered their services throughout the years for everything from building projects and trail clearing to assisting with health care for a week. Others have chosen to do a fundraising activity benefiting Badger Camp.  Many volunteers and staff members pursue careers of service to developmentally disabled individuals because of their experiences at Wisconsin Badger Camp.

If you are interested in volunteering check out our website at www.badgercamp.org to find out how!

Volunteers are great assets to our camp and we couldn't do it without them!

10th Annual State Employee Golf Outing

The 10th Annual Southwest Wisconsin State Employees Golf Outing for Wisconsin Badger Camp was a success, raising a large profit! The golf outing was held on Monday, May 21 at the Lancaster Country Club.

The weather was perfect for our golf outing this year, with a nice breeze and the sun shining all day our golfers were happy to be there for a great cause! We had around 30 golfers this year, a smaller number from last year. But we have no doubt that next year the event will be back and bigger than ever.

We not only had a great turn out but we had additional outside support from individuals not at our event, 14 out of the 18 holes were sponsored by local businesses or individuals, so a big shout out to all of our sponsors!

This golf outing was all about golf though, we had games at each hole for the golfers to particiapte in for some additional fun. Bean bag toss, longest put, and many more made this day extra fun for all who participated.

Thanks to all those who attended our awesome event and to those who donated time and prizes!
We appreciate our supporters of Wisconsin Badger Camp!
