Kicking for Wisconsin Badger Camp!

           

Scott and Bridget Nichols of Jim’s Bar in Prairie Du Chien hosted its 1^st Annual Co-Ed Kickball Tournament. The Proceeds of the tournament went to Wisconsin Badger Camp. A day full of beautiful weather, kickball, raffles, 50/50 and live entertainment helped raise $537 for Badger Camp. The money raised from this event will help individuals with developmental disabilities in Crawford County attend camp next summer.

“Wisconsin Badger Camp greatly appreciates the hard work and commitment of Jim’s Bar to organize this event,” Development Assistant Mitchell Daubert said. “It was a great event and we are already very excited for next year,” Daubert said.

      

      Wisconsin Badger Camp is an independent nonprofit organization located approximately 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien and serves around 900 individuals with developmental disabilities each summer. Badger Camp relies on the community’s time, talent, and financial assistance to provide for its campers.  Meet Wisconsin Badger Camp Fall Intern

Wisconsin Badger Camp would like to welcome our new intern for the fall semester. My name is Kassie Martin, I am a senior at University of Wisconsin-Platteville majoring in Communication Technologies, Public Relations emphasis and a Social Media Minor. I am originally from Orangeville, IL and I plan on graduating in December of 2015. During my fall semester I will be interning with Wisconsin Badger Camp, updating their social media sites, and also helping organize the 40^th Annual Wisconsin Badger Camp Christmas Telethon!

            The reason I chose to be an intern for Badger Camp is because of the great things this organization does. I love helping people, and to be to be a part of an organization as wonderful as Badger Camp and to make a difference in the community is something that I am so grateful for. I believe I will bring new knowledge of social media and fresh ideas to an already successful organization. I am very excited to get on the job experience for a future career in event planning. I believe this internship will be extremely rewarding to me personally and professionally. I would like to thank Badger Camp for giving me this amazing opportunity!

Prairie Du Chien Knights of Columbus Supports Badger Camp!

 

Prairie Du Chien Knights of Columbus Donate to Wisconsin Badger Camp

            Wisconsin Badger Camp is proud to announce it is the recipient of a $753.46 donation from the Knights of Columbus Council #1840 of Prairie Du Chien. The hard work of the Prairie Du Chien Knights of Columbus is greatly appreciated. This donation will provide financial assistance to local individuals with developmental disabilities that attended Wisconsin Badger Camp this summer.

Located 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Badger Camp is a non-profit organization that serves individuals with developmental disabilities by providing quality outdoor recreational experiences. Wisconsin Badger Camp accepts campers regardless of age, severity of a disability, or financial situation.  This summer over 900 individuals with developmental disabilities had the opportunity to experience swimming, hiking, camping, and making friends that last a lifetime at Wisconsin Badger Camp. 

“The Knights of Columbus Campion Council #1480 of Prairie Du Chien is proud to continue supporting Badger Camp and their important work,” Stu Bosworth said. “Knights Chuck Simmons and Steve Mercaitis are pleased to present a check from their 2013 Tootsie Roll Drive to Badger Camp,” said Bosworth.

Chuck Simmons is the Director of the Wisconsin Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Grant Program, which provides additional funds to organizations like Badger Camp for their major capital projects. Steve Mercaitis has been an annual Tootsie Roll volunteer for more than 43 years.

“On behalf of our board of directors, staff, and most importantly our campers, we would like to thank the Prairie Du Chien Knights of Columbus for their donation to Wisconsin Badger Camp,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development/Communications Director, Kayla Smith said. “Wisconsin Badger Camp is extremely proud of our relationship with the Knights of Columbus and are very appreciative of their efforts to help us fulfill our mission of serving individuals with developmental disabilities,” Smith said.

West Grant Lions Club Support Wisconsin Badger Camp

 

West Grant Lions Club Donates To Wisconsin Badger Camp

Wisconsin Badger Camp is proud to announce it is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from the West Grant Lions Club.  The West Grant Lions Club presented this donation on Wednesday, September 4th at their monthly meeting. This donation will be used to provide financial assistance for Wisconsin Badger Camp and the individuals with developmental disabilities that Camp serves.

            “On behalf of our staff, the Badger Camp board of directors and most importantly our campers, we would like to thank the West Grant Lions Club for their continuous support,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development Director, Kayla Smith said.  “We truly appreciate the hard work they put into raising this money, their involvement and support of Badger Camp.”

Kids Week: Huge Success!

Week 9 was a huge success up at Camp!

Nothing can replace the happy smiles we see on camper's faces and there were many smiles to go around during our 9th week of camp!


 We couldn't have asked for a better week up at Wisconsin Badger Camp!


 The Badger Olympics were a blast and the Badger Ball was just as fun!  We always look forward to "Kids Week" up at camp.  This summer proved to be just as successful as other weeks; there was a large number of kids up at camp for this week and we wouldn't want it any other way!


One thing we always love about kids week is that their siblings get to come up to camp with them.  It's great to see the interaction between siblings! Nothing sweeter than seeing the compassion for individuals with developmental disabilities than from their siblings.

Jack Deloss Charitable Trust Supports Wisconsin Badger Camp

The Jack DeLoss Charitable Trust has been a supporter of Wisconsin Badger Camp for 13 years. This year we are proud to announce that they have selected Badger Camp as a recipient for a $9,000 grant. This grant will financially support individuals with developmental disabilities from Dane County through our campership program who attend Wisconsin Badger Camp.

This grant will help provide over 200 individuals from Dane County experience outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, and arts & crafts. Wisconsin Badger Camp brings a tradition of outdoor recreational experiences to people of any ability or age regardless of one’s financial situation.

 “We are very appreciative of the Jack DeLoss Charitable Trust for all of the years of support and helping individuals with developmental disabilities attend camp,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development Director, Kayla Smith said. “It costs over $800 to host a camper for one week at camp, but we realize many of the individuals we serve are on limited or restricted incomes. With the support of the Jack Deloss Charitable Trust individuals can come to camp regardless of what their financial situation is,” Smith said.
