Badger Camp Receives Donation from West Grant Lions Club

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $1,500 donation from the West Grant Lions Club.   A continuing supporter of Badger Camp, the West Grant Lions Club is a group of dedicated volunteers who serve the community needs of Bagley, Bloomington, Patch Grove, Mount Hope, and Glen Haven, Wisconsin

     Because Badger Camp does not accept any state or federal funding, the West Grant Lions Club is playing an important role in the success of the Campership Program. The generous contribution will go towards the 42 individuals with developmental disabilities from Grant County. The Campership Program plays a vital role in the success of Badger Camp by giving them the opportunity to come to camp and participate in outdoor recreational activities regardless of their financial situation.

      “We truly appreciate the support from the West Grant Lions Club,” Development Director Kayla Leibfried said. “Our Campership Program relies on the generosity of wonderful organizations like the West Grant Lions Club,” Leibfried said. 

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is an independent nonprofit organization located approximately 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien and serves approximately 900 individuals with developmental disabilities each summer. Badger Camp relies on the community’s time, talent, and financial assistance to provide for its campers. WBC receives grant from Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation. This grant will financially support individuals with developmental disabilities from Dane County to give them the opportunity to come to camp and participate in outdoor recreational experiences such as fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, and arts & crafts.

     The Gordon Flesch Company was originally established in Wisconsin in 1956 and supported businesses in the greater Madison, Wisconsin area. The Foundation established in 2001, and has since given over one million dollars in donations to nonprofit organizations located near Madison. Each year, the foundation gives associates from Gordon Flesch nominate organizations that are close to their communities and then the foundation’s board of directors reviews nominations and selects award recipients.

“We are extremely happy for this relationship with Gordon Flesch and grateful for their contribution to help our Dane County campers,” said Development Director Kayla Leibfried. “We serve a high volume of campers from Dane County, making this grant vital to the success of our Campership Program.”

WBC wraps up Kid's Week

     Week 9 has come to an end here at Wisconsin Badger Camp, which means our final week of camp is quickly approaching. Can you believe it? 
     This week was Kid's Week at camp, which means the campers' ages ranged from 3 to 13. Throughout the week, campers participated in the usual Badger Olympics on Wednesday and Badger Ball on Thursday evening. Also on Thursday was a story time session where the campers enjoyed listening to stories told by the counselors. 
     Because this week was a little different than other weeks, some of the activities were different. Instead of a talent show on Friday, the campers enjoyed a scavenger hunt where they received goodie bags after they completed it. 
     Week 10 will begin Sunday! We're sad that the summer is ending but we're excited for the campers to enjoy the last week of camp!
 

The Ticket Bar & Grill to support WBC

     On Tuesday August 5, The Ticket Bar & Grill in Platteville will be donating 10% of all food and drink sales to Wisconsin Badger Camp, an independent, nonprofit organization located approximately 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin that serves around 900 individuals with developmental disabilities each year.

      Bring your friends and family down to The Ticket from 5 to 9 p.m. for great food, great drinks, and great company! Also, the Milwaukee Brewers will be on the TVs at The Ticket, so come on down and watch the game, all while supporting Wisconsin Badger Camp!

Memories a must for Week 7 at WBC

     Although Week 7 has come and gone, the memories made will never fade.
     Throughout the week, campers participated in the usual Badger Camp activities: Badger Olympics, Badger Ball, canoeing, fishing, swimming, etc. They also enjoyed the new basketball court that is on it's way to being finished.
     With Week 8 approaching, it's a sure thing to say that this summer has gone fast, but every day spent at camp makes the fast but fun summer worth it.
     Week 8 begins Sunday, who's ready?!

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is pleased to announce that we are the proud owner of two new Automatic Electronic Defibrillators! We would like to thank the Lancaster Community Fund for their $1,300 grant that helped us purchase the two AEDs!

Two-week Session Twice the Fun

Throughout the Week 5 & 6 two-week session, campers and counselors created a special bond with each other after spending so much time together. From Badger Ball to the water carnival to horseback riding and canoeing, the last couple weeks have been ideal for creating everlasting memories.

As for an update, we have the basketball court that was donated up and the campers have already tested it out to be sure it's to their liking, just waiting on a few finishing touches! 

Also, thank you to the volunteers from the local YMCA Camp for their help with work projects and hanging out with our campers on Thursday! 

Week 7 is already upon us, and we can't believe it! Time flies when you're having fun!
