Road Trip Concert To Benefit Badger Camp is a Success!

Volunteers, local businesses and community members came together on Friday, June 1st at the BARn to help raise a campership at the Road Trip concert to support Wisconsin Badger Camp.

“We would like to thank everyone who volunteered and attended the Road Trip Concert to support Wisconsin Badger Camp,” Badger Camp Development Director Kayla Smith said. “We truly appreciate the BARn and their staff for hosting the event this year,” Smith said.

The party started at 8 p.m. and continued for the night. Attendees enjoyed Chicago’s Best pizza, and the live entertainment of Road Trip.

The proceeds from this benefit go toward providing Campership assistance to individuals from the tri-county area (Grant, Lafayette, and Iowa County) that wish to attend Badger Camp this summer. A Campership is a scholarship that provides the financial assistance necessary for individuals with developmental disabilities that have limited income to still be able to attend Badger Camp regardless of their financial situation.

“Events like the Road Trip Concert make it possible for individuals with developmental disabilities in Grant County and the surrounding counties here in Southwest Wisconsin to be able to attend Badger Camp regardless of their income,” Badger Camp Executive Director Brent Bowers said. “We cannot say thank you enough to the volunteers who put this event together for reaching out to their friends and neighbors here in the community.”

Wisconsin Badger Camp is an independent nonprofit organization located approximately 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien. Badger Camp provides quality outdoor recreational experiences to adults and children with developmental disabilities regardless of their financial situation, abilities, gender, age, or where they are from. This summer Badger Camp will host over 800 campers from 50 counties in Wisconsin, including Grant, Iowa, Crawford and Lafayette County as well as 4 other states.

The 2012 Wisconsin Badger Camp season is now in session. We invite you to come join the celebration on Sunday, July 15 as we will be having a program, refreshments, tours, and music for our campers and the general public. We welcome anyone interested in volunteer opportunities or for more information about Wisconsin Badger Camp, please call (608) 348-9689 or visit our website at www.badgercamp.org.
