Marjorie L. Christiansen Foundation Supports Wisconsin Badger Camp

Wisconsin Badger Camp is the proud recipient of a $3,000 grant from the Marjorie L. Christiansen Foundation.  With the help of the Marjorie L. Christiansen Foundation, Wisconsin Badger Camp will be able to serve approximately 900 individuals this year regardless of the severity of their disability or ability to pay the requested camp fee.

 By providing outdoor recreational experiences such as fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, and arts & crafts, Wisconsin Badger Camp brings the tradition of outdoor recreational experiences to people of any ability or age regardless of one’s financial situation. 

 “It costs over $900 to host a camper for one week at camp, though we only request a fee of $700. The Marjorie L. Christiansen Foundation has provided us with a grant to help individuals come to camp regardless of their financial situation,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development Director, Kayla Leibfried said. “The continued support of the Marjorie L. Christiansen has been instrumental in continuing our Campership Program and we are extremely grateful for their support,” Leibfried said. 

Wisconsin Badger Camp is an independent nonprofit organization located approximately 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien and serves approximately 900 individuals with developmental disabilities each summer. Badger Camp relies on the community’s time, talent, and financial assistance to provide for its campers. William & Cynthia Berg Family Fund of the La Crosse Community Foundation Supports Wisconsin Badger Camp

Wisconsin Badger Camp is the proud recipient of a $2,000 grant from the William & Cynthia Berg Family Fund of the La Crosse Community Foundation. This grant will be used to help improve the outdoor recreational experiences for adults and children with developmental disabilities from the La Crosse County that attend Wisconsin Badger Camp.

Stackner Family Foundation Supports Wisconsin Badger Camp

Wisconsin Badger Camp is the proud recipient of a $4,000 grant from the Stackner Family Foundation. The grant will be used to provide financial assistance for individuals in Waukesha County with developmental disabilities that will attend Wisconsin Badger Camp this summer.

Located 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Badger Camp is a private,       non-profit organization that serves individuals with developmental disabilities by providing quality and challenging outdoor recreational experiences. Wisconsin Badger Camp accepts campers regardless of age, severity of a disability, geographical location, or financial situation.  Wisconsin Badger Camp relies on the generosity of organizations like the Stackner Family Foundation, as Badger Camp does not receive any state or federal funding.
            “We appreciate the continuous support of the Stackner Family Foundation in providing financial assistance to our campers in Waukesha County,” Wisconsin Badger Camp Development Director, Kayla Leibfried said. “Stackner Family Foundation is helping us to send 34 individuals with developmental disabilities from Waukesha County regardless of their financial situation,” Leibfried said.  “Because of foundations like this, Badger Camp has not had to turn a camper away based off the severity of their disability or inability to pay the requested camp fee for 50 years,” Leibfried said. 

Apparitions, Centurions, and Beowulf Motorcycle Clubs donate $2,200 to Badger Camp

     On September 19, more than 60 bikers and riders from the Apparitions, Centurions, and Beowulf motorcycle clubs visited Wisconsin Badger Camp and donated over $2,200 that was raised through various fundraisers throughout the year. This donation will help financially support individuals with developmental disabilities who attend Wisconsin Badger Camp. 

The motorcycle clubs met at Badger Camp on Saturday afternoon where they held a 50/50 raffle and went on a tour of camp.

Badger Camp Receives Donation from West Grant Lions Club

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $1,500 donation from the West Grant Lions Club.   A continuing supporter of Badger Camp, the West Grant Lions Club is a group of dedicated volunteers who serve the community needs of Bagley, Bloomington, Patch Grove, Mount Hope, and Glen Haven, Wisconsin

     Because Badger Camp does not accept any state or federal funding, the West Grant Lions Club is playing an important role in the success of the Campership Program. The generous contribution will go towards the 45 individuals with developmental disabilities from Grant County. The Campership Program plays a vital role in the success of Badger Camp by giving them the opportunity to come to camp and participate in outdoor recreational activities regardless of their financial situation.

      “We truly appreciate the support from the West Grant Lions Club,” Development Director Kayla Leibfried said. “Our Campership Program relies on the generosity of great organizations like the West Grant Lions Club,” Leibfried said.  

Badger Camp Receives Grant from the George Family Foundation

     Wisconsin Badger Camp is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $3,400 grant from the George Family Foundation.  This grant will help support our Crawford County campers through our Campership Program.  Wisconsin Badger Camp’s Campership Program is an ongoing initiative that was established to help provide financial assistance to campers who wish to attend. 

      The George Family Foundation is a private foundation established in 1996 in Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, Wisconsin by Roy L. and Geraldine E. George. The mission of the George Family Foundation is to assist those programs and individuals who have a vision and a plan to better the long-term quality of life. The George Family Foundation limits funding to Prairie du Chien, WI and surrounding communities as the founders prefer to benefit the area that has been their home throughout their lives.

    “It’s wonderful to see a foundation supporting its local campers,” Development Director, Kayla Leibfried said. “We greatly appreciate the George Family Foundation’s support of our mission.”

WBC Receives Grant towards Cedar Lodge

 Wisconsin Badger Camp is a proud recipient of a $2,500 grant from the K.C. Stock Foundation. This grant will go toward Wisconsin Badger Camp’s Cedar Lodge Improvement Project. This is the first time that Badger Camp has received a grant from the K.C. Stock Foundation, located in Green Bay, WI.

 Cedar Lodge was Badger Camp’s first lodge and was built in 1974. This lodge currently houses a small infirmary, dining hall, kitchen and female and male dorms. Cedar Lodge is our main lodge on camp where campers and their families/caregivers are welcomed and checked in. Because this is the oldest structure on camp it is in need of some improvements. The K.C. Stock Foundation’s contribution will help this project.

“We are very excited to receive this grant from the K.C. Stock Foundation for our Cedar Lodge,” said Development Director, Kayla Leibfried. “It is great to be able to see this foundation help us in maintaining and improving our facilities at camp for our campers.”
